A Silver seal in the Nautilus Book Awards, a national competition to recognize books that can change the world, has been awarded to Mose T  From A to Z: The Folk Art of Mose Tolliver By Anton Haardt . This contest recognizes the contribution of independent presses and self-published books in bringing new ideas to the marketplace, similar to the way that independent filmmakers have reshaped the film industry, according to Ellen Reid, the publisher and book marketing expert who originated the contest.  The Nautilus award for Mose T  From A to Z was in the category of Art Genre.The Nautilus Award is an ongoing national competition in 24 categories celebrating literary contributions to positive social change, spiritual growth, conscious living, wellness, and responsible leadership.

 

 

09:08:07: Renowned self-taught folk artist, Jimmy Lee Sudduth passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at the age of 97. Mr. Sudduth left an incredible body of work in his unique, original mud paintings. He loved spinning tales, playing his harmonica and just making people smile.

This annual juried arts festival attracts renowned artists and art collectors from around the nation each year.

 

 

11:01:06: Iconic folk artist Mose Tolliver passed away on Monday, October 30, 2006. Mose T left behind a rich folk art legacy and unique body of work.

 

 

07:26:06: Florida folk artist Mr. B's work "Dawning of a New Day" has been chosen as the title piece for the September 30, 2006 Art For Life fundraiser art auction. 03:10:06: Renowned folk artist, R.A. Miller passed away this past Tuesday, March 7th at the age of 93. He leaves behind a rich legacy of spiritual folk art as well as whimsical creations. He will be greatly missed - "Lord Love You", R.A..

05:02:05: Take a look at the work of Glenn Simmions, Georgia memory folk artist, and his famous and 'not so famous' people. "Sonny and Jackie" is his tribute to "a teenage couple inseperable when I was about 5 years old growing up in Valdosta, Georgia. They were very popular at school and were May Day King and Queen one year. They were also very well thought of in the neighborhood of 'Kill Me Quick' where we lived. They married and years later Jackie died tragically in an auto accident."
