Jennifer
Knighton
Southern
Visionary Art welcomes Georgia self taught, visionary artist Jennifer
Knighton. Jennifer is a self taught artist who began painting on
canvas but when she found some antique ceiling tins she was inspired
by the already framed panels. She has been painting on these tins
since 2006 and most of the flowers she paints are actually grown
in her gardens. Her landscapes are depictions of places she has
visitied in her travels or visions of how she imagines them.
Juried
Art Competitions: Her first "Best in Show" - Hart Regional Juried
Art Show in May of 2010. The Lyndon House Art Center
in Athens, Ga. recently chose one of her flower tins as part of
their 36th Juried Exhibition.
Jennifer
was born in Early Co. Georgia in 1943. Her career includes being
an eduacator, social worker and business owner. She now paints full
time and her work is exhibited in galleries in Georgia and Mississippi.

Take a look at the work of Glenn Simmions, Georgia
memory folk artist, and his famous and 'not so famous' people. "Sonny
and Jackie" is his tribute to "a teenage couple inseperable
when I was about 5 years old growing up in Valdosta, Georgia. They
were very popular at school and were May Day King and Queen one
year. They were also very well thought of in the neighborhood of
'Kill Me Quick' where we lived. They married and years later Jackie
died tragically in an auto accident."
Also,
check out our "Lagnaippe"
page - an unexpected something extra - an eclectic mix of fun and
interesting works by various folk artists.
