Take a look at the work of Glenn Simmions, Georgia
memory folk artist, and his famous and 'not so famous' people. "Sonny
and Jackie" is his tribute to "a teenage couple inseperable
when I was about 5 years old growing up in Valdosta, Georgia. They
were very popular at school and were May Day King and Queen one
year. They were also very well thought of in the neighborhood of
'Kill Me Quick' where we lived. They married and years later Jackie
died tragically in an auto accident."
Also,
check out the gallery's "Lagnaippe" page - an
unexpected something extra - an eclectic mix of fun and interesting
works by various folk artists.
